Letter: The Rush to Build Rivermere
To the Editor:
Concerning the flooded-out Rivermere affordable housing complex: That project went up in such a hurry that I think a few engineering and safety concerns may not have been addressed up front. One example is the proximity and stability of the very tall hill in front of which the complex was built. A second example concerns the connection of the sewage lines to the city’s system. The corner of Slayton Hill and Dulac/Tannery Road — where all the big pipes go — was torn up twice, I believe. As someone who lives up from Slayton Hill Road, I wondered why the second disruption of traffic had been necessary. Did they miss something the first time?
