Volunteer Readers, Drivers for Blind Needed

Windsor — The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking volunteer readers and drivers to help blind Vermonters with day-to-day activities.

Clients of VABVI often cannot see well enough to read printed materials, even with the use of magnification, the nonprofit said in a recent news release. Those in need of assistance locally include a woman in the Windsor area.

“If you live in the Windsor area or within a 15-mile radius of Windsor and are fortunate enough not to need our services, this is a wonderful opportunity to help those who are less fortunate,” the nonprofit said. The volunteer would make a weekly visit to read aloud mail and other correspondence, and to help the woman organize her organize papers.

Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage. For more information, call De Haskell toll free at 1-877-350-8840. — Staff report
