Letter: Separate and Unequal Treatment
To the Editor:
The criticism of Peter Hoe Burling was emotional but wrong (“Too Quick to Play the Race Card,” Nov. 28). Barbara Fortune was correct about the passionate and low personal attacks on Susan Rice. Yes, the Republican lawmakers would have criticized a white male — but without the extreme disrespect they have shown Rice. This is a woman with credentials a mile long but with whom they disagree. She should never have been subjected to the slimy treatment she was given.
And Sen. John McCain called Rice unqualified to be secretary of state. He was ready to stick us with Sarah Palin in a higher capacity than that! He has lost all credibility after this debacle. Sen. Lindsey Graham never had any credibility to lose.
