Familiar Fender-Bender at the Quechee Gorge

Hartford Police Officer Frederick Peyton fills out an accident report for a two car accident involving a Honda Fit driven by Kyle Huck, of Woodstock, center, and a truck driven by Justin Chamberlin, of Pomfret. Also pictured is Huck’s father, Karl. Huck stopped at a pedestrian crossing at the Queechee Gorge Bridge yesterday. Chamberlin said he tried to stop but his brakes failed. Peyton says this is a common accident scenario near the bridge. “In my six years as an officer here, we’ve had around 100 accidents like this — people stopping for pedestrians and other cars failing to stop.” Peyton said.
