Claremont — Vandalism again struck the West Pleasant Street cemetery, just two months after about 75 gravestones were damaged.

Police said that in the latest incident — believed to have occurred between Saturday and Sunday morning — about 40 headstones were damaged. The vandalism was reported to police at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

A $1,000 reward was pledged by community members for information following the July vandalism leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Police Chief Alex Scott said Monday the reward extends to last weekend’s vandalism. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 542-9538.
