KUA Girls Lacrosse Wins

Meriden — Morgan Walsh scored the first of her five goals just 25 seconds into the contest, propelling the Kimball Union Academy girls lacrosse team to a 13-5 win over Tilton in the Wildcats’ season opener on Saturday.

KUA succeeded at all levels of the game, dominating draws, possession, ground balls and defense to win going away. Maura Doyle and Ellie Harrigan both produced hat tricks for Kimball Union, while Storm Sideleau (one assist) and West Windsor’s Marina Cerulo also scored goals. Walsh and Doyle also had three assists for the Wildcats, and Quebec-born goaltenders Christine Bouchat-Bonin and Amelie Parker combined on seven saves.

Kimball Union is off until a date with St. Paul’s on Friday.

Girls Tennis

Holderness 5, KUA 4

Meriden — Molly Adams and Rebecca DeTurk combined for three points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a loss to Holderness in the Wildcats’ first match of the spring.

DeTurk (11-9) and Adams (10-5) joined Beatriz Sanchez-Argueso (10-6) in winning singles points for KUA. DeTurk and Adams also teamed up for a point at doubles (8-3).

KUA hosts Brewster on Wednesday.

Men’s Tennis

Cornell 5, Dartmouth 2

Hanover — The Big Green (8-6) fell in its Ivy League home opener with the Big Red (12-5) on Saturday.

Xander Centenari (No. 1) and Brendan Tannenbaum (No. 6) both claimed straight-sets wins for Dartmouth’s singles points. Centenari and Brandon DeBot combined for an 8-2 win at first doubles, but Cornell took the other two matches for the doubles point.
