Local Roundup: Brazilian Wins Sailing Title
Sunapee — Brazilian Lars Grael teamed with area sailor Brad Nichol to defeat Augie Diaz and partner Bruno Parada to win the 2014 Western Hemisphere Star Championship on Saturday at Lake Sunapee.
At the end of the seven-race series, Grael edged Diaz in a total-wins tiebreaker (3-2) even though both sailors had 11 points. The wind was blowing a steady 17 mph with gusts into the 20s.
Grael and Diaz were followed by Arthur Anosov (15 points), John MacCausland (28) and Brian Cramer (29).
Hartford Jrs. 4 Touchline 3
White River Junction — Hartford Juniors scored three second-half goals to edge Touchline’s Division IV team in New Hampshire Soccer Conference action. Kyle Prior (twice) and Connor Brooks scored for Hartford, which scored on an own goal in the first half. Avery Kravitz, Noah Kahan and Tim Alibozek scored for Touchline.
Touchline’s D-IV and D-V teams head to Plainfield School today to face Lebanon Central Supply and Lebanon Topstitch Embroidery in a twin bill.
Post 22 Juniors Play in Keene
Keene, n.h. — The Lebanon Post 22 junior team played a tripleheader at Keene’s Alumni Field.
In the first game Lebanon lost to the Vermont Outlaws, 7-4. In the second game Post 22 lost to the Newburgh (N.Y.) Yankees, 9-6. In the third game, Post 22 lost to Keene Post 4, 8-0.
