Letter: Getting Through to the NRA

To the Editor:

Nancy Parker’s letter on June 23 congratulates Mark Kelly for his criticism of the National Rifle Association’s obstruction of gun control legislation. I concur.

However, I wonder if Kelly and his wife, Gabby Giffords, have canceled their memberships in the NRA. Until they do — along with droves of other responsible hunters, target shooters and collectors — NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre will feel justified in maintaining the organization’s “no way, no how” attitude.

To paraphrase an old saying: Money talks, rhetoric walks.
