Ruth (Bruorton) Manning
Strafford, Vt. — Ruth (Bruorton) Manning, 92, passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1921, in Boston, Mass. to Charles and Alicia (Clark) Bruorton. She grew up in Vermont and later spent some time in Chicago, Ill. She married Roscoe manning on July 2, 1957. They bought a dairy farm in Strafford in 1959, where they raised their large family.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years; a sister, Annie (Bradley) Sines and her husband, Dan of Alburg, Vt.; a son, Vernon Flint and his wife, Sandra of Strafford; daughter, Meredith Boardman of South Royalton, Vt.; son, Morgan Flint and his wife, Judith of Braintree; daughter, Carol Boles and her husband, Oliver of Strafford; a son, Brian Manning and his wife, Sandra Howe of Sharon; son, Gary Manning and his wife, Debbie of Plainfield, N.H.; and a daughter-in-law, Anne Flint of West Suffield, Conn. Dearly loved by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Clark Bruorton, Norman Bruorton, Bill Bruorton; a sister, Lois Woodrow; her son, Randall Flint and a grandson, Marshall Manning.
She loved flowers and vegetable gardening, baking, making jams and jellies, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox team.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on the family farm at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Bayada Home Health Care, 2 South Main Street, Rutland, VT 05701.
