Marjorie M. Stillson

Windsor, Vt. — Marjorie M. Stillson, 84, a former resident of Windsor and Ascutney, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Owingsville, Ky.

She was born June 27, 1929, in Claremont, N.H. the daughter of John and Grace (Matice) Stillson. She received her schooling in Weathersfield and Windsor. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1947. She attended Castleton State Teacher’s College in Castleton. She married Ralph Pardy, Jr. in Ascutney on August 12, 1950. He passed away in 1957.

Marjorie taught school in Brownsville for a short while and later at Weathersfield where she taught lower grades and remedial reading, for many years until her retirement in 1981.

She was a longtime active member of the Ascutney Union Church, the 4-H Club in Weathersfield and a member of the Ascutney Happy Homemakers. She volunteered as a Senior Companion in Windsor, Reading and Weathersfield and served on the Vermont State Board of Directors of the Senior Companion Program. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking.

She married Robert Foster, Sr. in 1957 and they were later divorced.

She was predeceased by one son, Robert Pardy and one grandson, Cody Pardy in 2008 and by four brothers, Earl Stillson, Clarence Stillson, George Stillson and Ronald Stillson and one sister, Ruth Moore.

Survivors include, three daughters, Donna Porter of Owingsville, Ky., Janet Peterson of Alexandria, Va. and Karen Foster of Owingsville; one son, Robert Foster, Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Prudence Russell of Ascutney; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ken White, Pastor of the Rachel S. Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor, officiating. Committal services will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont, N.H.
