Letter: Thanks for Sponsoring Hulbert Trip
Thanks for Sponsoring Hulbert Trip
To the Editor:
Each year Marion Cross School fifth-graders spend two days and an overnight at the Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee. During this outdoor educational experience, we face a variety of physical and intellectual challenges that can be solved only through the sharing of ideas, experimentation, mutual support and perseverance. We also perform jobs assigned by Hulbert staff: cooking breakfast and dinner; waiting tables; washing dishes; scrubbing pots and pans; and cleaning cabins and bathhouses. Most of the funding this year came from an extremely generous grant provided by the Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation. We would also like to recognize our chief sponsors — Mascoma Savings Bank, Dr. Toby Kravitz, the Shillen and Mackall law office and the Norwich Lions Club — for responding to our written and door-to-door fundraising appeals with major financial support. Thank you!
