Letter: When Greed Trumps Responsibility
To the Editor:
Your newspaper has always appeared to me to be community-oriented and supportive of high values. That’s why I am particularly disappointed whenever I see stores carrying alcohol and tobacco advertising in your paper, especially those targeting college students. I realize you need advertising dollars to support the expenses of publishing the paper, but I believe you have the ability to decide what ads appear in your paper. This is especially important at a time when your newspaper is reporting the prevalence of sexual assault at Dartmouth and the connection between alcohol abuse and that kind of crime.
Irresponsibility, the lack of adherence to high values and greed will lead to the continued corruption of our young adults. Things need to change. I hope you will rethink your practices and regain your respectability.
