Student From N.H. Killed in Chicago Crash
Chicago (ap) — A University of Chicago Law School student from New Hampshire has died of injuries she suffered in a crash with a SUV going the wrong way on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified her as 26-year-old Laura Anne LaPlante. She was from Hancock, N.H.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that she was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. University spokesman Steve Koppes told the newspaper that LaPlante was on track to graduate this summer.
The crash happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday when a SUV traveling against the direction of traffic in the northbound lanes collided head-on with a taxi carrying LaPlante and another passenger. Both passengers and the two drivers involved were all initially hospitalized in serious to critical condition.
