‘Local Heroes’ Set to Be Honored Today at Listen

Hartford — The second annual Local Heroes, Local Foods Micah Awards Ceremony will be held today, from 2-4 p.m., at Listen Community Center in White River Junction.

For the awards, local congregations are invited to select someone who follows the prophet Micah’s exhortation to “act justly, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”

Here is a list of those being honored and the congregation that nominated them: Rosemary Affeldt, Community Lutheran Church; Jodi Austin, Lebanon United Methodist Church; Steve Beaupre, Meriden Congregational Church; Dan Cofell and John Erickson, Our Savior Lutheran Church; Raelene Lemery, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church; Jean Kendrick and Dick Davis, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; Kit Griggs, St. Thomas Episcopal Church; and Anne Segal, Upper Valley Jewish Community.

The event, sponsored by United Valley Interfaith Project, will feature support and food from local businesses, restaurants and farms.

Admission is “pay what you can,” with a suggested donation of $25.
