Hanover Rotary’s Nov. 2 Gala to Help Second Wind Home

Hanover — An auction next month in Hanover will support a local transitional residence for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.

The “auction gala,” sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hanover, is set for Nov. 2, at 5 p.m., in the Hanover Inn. The event will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

Half of the proceeds will be donated to Second Wind Foundation to help defray the cost of acquiring the building.

The remainder will be contributed to other philanthropic causes supported by the club.

Willow Grove, one of several programs offered by Second Wind Foundation, provides substance-free housing for up to nine residents. It was first established in 2004 in a rented house in Wilder.

Recently, the foundation bought a building, also in Wilder, to house the program, which aims to help residents strengthen their recovery and move toward independent, productive lives.

Willow Grove residents work or volunteer and pay modest fees for room and board.

Their care plans may include counseling and psychiatric services; vocational planning; domestic violence support; medical, dental, educational, and legal services; parenting and other peer-support groups; and after-care planning.

For more information about the auction, see the Hanover Rotary Club Facebook page.

Tickets, $60 per person, may be purchased by sending a check to Hanover N.H. Rotary Charities, P.O. Box 381, Hanover, NH 03755-0381. — Staff report
