Hanover — At last week’s meeting of the Sherlock Holmes Club, none of the attendees smoked a pipe or sported a deerstalker hat. Though Barbara Jones, of Grantham, did bring her magnifying glass.
Every month, 20 or so Sherlockians, mystery enthusiasts and history buffs gather at the Howe Library, where they delve into the world of everyone’s favorite nineteenth-century sleuth. Meetings usually center on one of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, but discussion topics range from Victorian-era poisons to the early history of the telephone.
Hanover resident and devoted Sherlockian Tom Brydges founded the club seven years ago. “People enjoy the camaraderie,” Brydges says. “It seems to have attracted a group which just plain enjoys being together.”
