Wedding: Rigas — Cornell
Hanover — Kerry Ann Donoghue Rigas and Robert Charles Cornell were married in Stonington, Conn., on Oct. 20, 2012.
The ceremony took place at the United Church of Stonington and was presided over by the Rev. Valerie King. The bride wore an ivory lace dress and was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Jennifer Kane, and the bridesmaids included the sister of the bridegroom, Ashley Weaver. Flower girls were nieces of the bride, Kelsey and Felicity Kane, and the ring bearer was the bride’s nephew, Travis Kane. The ring pillow was made from the bride’s maternal grandmother’s satin wedding dress and a brooch belonging to her paternal grandmother accented her bouquet.
Erin Koen served as the best man. Groomsmen included the bride’s two brothers, Timothy and Jamie Rigas.
A reception followed at the Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington. Part of the celebration included the bride’s brothers and cousins performing a special acoustic song to honor the couple and their families.
The bride is the daughter of Aileen and James Rigas, of Hanover. She graduated from Hanover High School in 2001 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Fordham University in New York. She received a law degree from Fordham Law School in 2010 and is employed as an attorney in New York City.
The bridegroom is the son of Shirley and Robert Cornell, of Hamilton, N.Y. He graduated from Hamilton Central High School in 2002 and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from SUNY Oswego in 2006. He received a master’s degree in childhood and special education from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., in 2012, and is employed at Excellence Girls Charter School in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The couple met in the Upper Valley through their participation in an intramural soccer league. They reside in Manhattan.
