Windsor’s Gilbert Now 9-0
Salem, n.h. — Undefeated welterweight Chris Gilbert, of Windsor, ran his professional boxing record to 9-0 by stopping Luis Viramontes of Worcester, Mass., in their rematch on the undercard of last week’s ESPN Friday Night Fights at Rockingham Park.
Gilbert caught Viramontes along the ropes with a hard right hand to the body with about 15 seconds left in the second round of a scheduled six-rounder, and followed with a flurry of punches that left Viramontes holding on as the round ended.
Viramontes was unable to answer the bell for the third round, and his record fell to 3-3-1.
The two fought last March in Windsor, with Gilbert scoring a fifth-round TKO victory.
Gilbert, who now has seven knockouts among his nine victories, is scheduled to fight again Sept. 12 at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.
