Merton O. Bean

Bradford, Vt — Merton O. Bean, 80, of Lebanon, N.H. and a long time resident of Bradford, Vt died Friday, June 28, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. surrounded by his family.

He was born in Corinth, Vt the son of Richard and Beatrice (Huntington) Bean. He attended schools in Bradford.

Merton had been employed for Co-op of Hanover, N.H., Perry’ Oil Service of Bradford, Vt and for many years as a shipping and receiving Foreman at Bradford Veneer and Panel.

He wintered for many years in Florida and for the past two years lived in Port Orange, Fla. until his health forced him to move back to Lebanon where he has since made his home.

His enjoyed his dog Midnight, His Cadillac’s, camping, sitting in the sun and breakfast at Shyrl’s in West Lebanon, N.H.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Bean of Lebanon, N.H. and Stuart Bean of Orange, N.H.; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Charlotte Bishop of Woodsville, N.H., Penny Hodge of Bradford, Vt and Shirley Stever of West Fairlee, Vt.; three brothers, Earl Bean of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., John and Carroll Bean both of Bradford, Vt., many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his long time companion, Liz York.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 1 pm in Bradford United Church of Christ. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Bradford Senior Center, Bradford, Vt
