Letter: Program on Region’s Water Supply

To the Editor:

“Are We Taking Our Water For Granted” is the topic of a two-part program presented by the Natural Resources Group of the League of Women Voters. On Tuesday, April 30, at 4:30 p.m. in the Kilton Library in West Lebanon, the public works staff from the towns of Norwich, Hartford and Hanover and from the city of Lebanon will discuss local water use and resources, as well as future needs as industry and population growth place additional demands on our water supplies and infrastructure. John Gilbert, chairman of the New Hampshire Water Sustainability Commission, will present an overview of the commission’s 2012 report.

A follow-up program on Thursday, May 16, at 4 p.m. will tour the new Hypertherm facility on Heater Road in Lebanon to learn about the innovative water-management techniques incorporated into the building and grounds directed toward water co nservation and prevention of water runoff.

We urge the public to join us at these two events.
