Andrew Jackson Congdon
Lancaster, N.H. — Andrew Jackson Congdon, 94, died Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Andrew was born in Jefferson NH, on October 16, 1918, the son of Alexander B. and Sue Congdon. He was a graduate of Whitefield High School, Whitefield, NH. He worked for Roberts Motor Sales, Thompsons Manufacturing for 38 years as a machinist, and in his later years opened Lancaster Machine Shop where he retired after 16 years in 1991.
He served with the US Navy during WWII and was a 38 year member of Lancaster Volunteer Fire Dept serving as Assistant Chief for 4 years. He was a 40 year member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as president, treasurer and as trustee.
He is survived by his daughters Lucy Berry of White River Jct., VT and Ann Lavers and husband Richard of Fitchburg, Mass., five grandchildren, Michael Lavers of Falmouth, Mass., Kevin Berry and wife Rachel of Roslindale, Mass., Stephanie Franz and husband Eric of Norfolk, Mass., Brian Berry and wife Lesley of Claremont, N.H., and Richard Lavers, Jr. and wife Christen of Concord, N.H., and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Cummings) Congdon.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main St., Lancaster, N.H. A funeral service will be held at the Methodist Church in Lancaster on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. A military burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
