Dartmouth’s Zupan Heads to NCAAs
Hanover — Dartmouth men’s swimmer Nejc Zupan will represent the Big Green at the 2013 NCAA Championships in Indianapolis on March 28-30. Zupan will compete in the 200-yard IM and the 200 breaststroke.
Zupan, who earned Ivy League Swimmer of the Meet honors, has won six Ivy League titles throughout his career and completed a triple crown at the 2013 Ivy League Championships, winning the 200 IM, 400 IM and the 200 breast.
The Slovenian native becomes the first Dartmouth swimmer to attend the NCAA Championships since 1980. The last time the Big Green was represented was in 1999, when diver Toby Hayes advanced to the national championship.
■ Dartmouth freshman diver Brett Gillis will look to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships at the Zone A Diving Meet in Blacksburg, Va., this weekend.
Gillis, who qualified for the NCAA Zone meet during the regular season, will compete on both the 1-meter boards, 3-meter boards and the platform in hopes of earning a spot into the NCAA meet. He will compete on the 1-meter today and the 3-meter tomorrow. The meet concludes with the platform on Sunday.
Eleven divers from Zone A will automatically qualify for the national championship.
There will be six women who will advance and five men.
