Letter: Obsolete and Outdated
To the Editor:
Before the Affordable Care Act was found to be constitutional, we heard over and over again from supporters of the president that the Constitution was obsolete and outdated. Have the actions of our federal government supported that statement? Was the Fast and Furious operation an attack on our right to bear arms? The Affordable Care Act so far has been shown to be an attack on our freedom of religion. The Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans has been shown to be a blatant attack on our freedom of speech.
Does our president want us to bow down to the United Nations? We are a nation made up of citizens from all over the planet. Did all these people come to the United States to be free, to live the American dream, or did they come here to change the United States into a type of country they wanted to get away from?
Our president’s supporters say the Constitution is obsolete and outdated. With this being the information age, is our federal government obsolete and outdated? Can the dream that our government will be for the people and by the people become a reality? Should we the people be voting how our money is spent?
We hear over and over again about a global economy. Are we going to start hearing about a global government? Is that why the president’s supporters say the Constitution is obsolete and outdated? Do we have to give up our freedom to be part of a global government?
Has the time come for the citizens of the United States to stand up for the citizens of the world and say we the people of the United States cannot be part of a global government until the rest of the citizens of the world have the same freedoms as we have?
Is our Constitution obsolete and outdated, or is our federal government obsolete and outdated?
