Letter: Thanks to Medical Center Volunteers

To the Editor:

This year the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Auxiliary Volunteers celebrate 80 years of service to our community. Since 1933, volunteers have generously supported the medical center. An operation that in its early days consisted of donation days and musical shows evolved to one that now provides substantial annual funding from the proceeds of the Pink Smock Gift Shop. Every day, generous gifts of time and talent are shared by over 600 volunteers who enhance patient services throughout multiple departments and locations. In fiscal year 2012, volunteers gave more than 61,000 hours of service to Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

We simply could not provide the services that we offer without the dedicated efforts of our volunteers. Thanks to each and every one of you for all that you do to sustain the culture of caring throughout Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

This week, National Volunteer Week, provides an opportunity to honor these remarkable volunteers. On behalf of the entire staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, we applaud all of our volunteers.

For information on how to join this amazing group of volunteers, please go to http://giving.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/volunteer or call the volunteer office at 603-650-7056. We look forward to hearing from you.
