Cynthia A. Fulcher

South Royalton, Vt. — Cynthia A. Fulcher, 78, died in her sleep at her home in South Royalton on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013.

She was born July 4, 1935 in Randolph, Vt., the daughter of Daniel A. and Inez T. (Winchell) DeCoste. She attended school in South Royalton and graduated in 1953 from South Royalton High School. She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956. She met John R. “Jack” Fulcher while in the service and they were married on Nov. 12, 1955. Jack retired from the military in 1972 and they moved back to South Royalton. For the next 28 years Cynthia worked as a procurement clerk at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct., Vt. before retiring in 2002. She was very devoted to her family and was always the first to arrive for any of their sporting events or school activities.

She was a member of the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in South Royalton and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel, Vt. For many years she volunteered at the St. Anthony’s Food Shelf and Points of Life Program in Bethel; South Royalton Public Library and was an election assistant at the voter entrance table for elections held in South Royalton. She was a tremendous fan of all sports; high school, college, Red Sox baseball, Celtics basketball, Bruins hockey or Patriots football, she loved to watch them all.

She is survived by two sons, Michael John Fulcher and his wife, Marlene of Greensboro, N.C. and Dane Anthony Fulcher and his wife, Allison of South Royalton; four grandchildren, Quinn Michael Fulcher and his wife, Crystal of Colfax, N.C., Nevin John Fulcher and his girlfriend, Alexandra Cooke of Stokesdale, N.C., Damon Anthony Fulcher and Jacqueline Marlene Fulcher both of South Royalton; a great grandson, Dempsey Michael Fulcher of Colfax, N.C.; a brother, David DeCoste and his wife, Lilla of Walpole, N.H.; a sister, Sandra Manouvelos and her husband, Nick of South Royalton; a sister-in-law, Barbara Lia and her husband, Carmen of Weehawken, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John “Jack” Fulcher on Oct. 24, 1991; and a sister, Nancy DeCoste in 1999.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel with Rev. Soosi Raj as the celebrant. The burial will be held later in the spring at the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton.
