Dr. Wayne C. Olson

Bradford, Vt. — Dr. Wayne C. Olson, 80, of North Main Street in Bradford died Friday morning, July 19, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Dr. Olson was a retired minister in the United Church of Christ as well as a retired Instructor of Speech at Butler University and Indiana-Perdue University at Indianapolis.

He is a noted scholar of the New England Transcendentalists including Emerson, Thoreau and Margaret Fuller. He founded the Indiana Aids Pastoral Care Network. He graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary and received an Ed.D from Teachers College at Columbia University.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary; by his children, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Amy, Kerry, Kendra and Kerwin; by his brother, Allen “Ole” Olson and wife, Joan; and his sister, Judy Millar and husband Paul; by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Webster and husband, Nevin, Linda Litherland and husband, Eugene; and by his grandchildren, Kira, Daniel, Shira, Lewis, Michael, Natalie, Ian and Laura.

A memorial service was held on Monday, July 22, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bradford Congregational Church with Rev. Karen Lapinczyk officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date.

Donations in Mr. Olson’s memory may be made to the Bradford Congregational Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
