Addie May George
Enfield, N.H. — Addie May George, 90, of Corinth, Vt. and Enfield, N.H. died on June 17th at the home of her daughter. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 22, 1923 in Lyme, NH. She was a live-in housekeeper in Fairlee, VT and in Etna, NH and was employed at MHMH in the kitchen. She then stayed home to care for her mother and family.
On Aug. 15th, 1946, she married Walter L. George Sr. they raised 5 children living in Sandy Hook, Conn., Lyme, Gilmanton Iron Works, Grafton and Enfield, N.H.
She later worked for Dartmouth College in Thayer Hall, Retiring in 1988. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, bird watching, music and cooking.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter L. George Sr. in 1998, an infant daughter, Linda, granddaughter, Tiffany Fielden, siblings, Elizabeth Strout, Irene Prior, Marion Greenwood, Irvin Wilmot, Stanley Wilmot and Dorothy Murphy.
She is survived by her children Judy and Roger Grace, Canaan, Fay and Larry Grace, Enfield, Dale and Wade Van Gordon, Corinth, Vt., Walter and Martha George, Enfield, John and Tammy George, Canaan; a sister, Lillian Richard of Lebanon. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren
The family would like to thank Hospice and the Visiting Nurses Association for their care for Addie and her family.
Calling hours will be at the Ricker Funeral Home in Enfield on Thursday, July 17th from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. A graveside memorial service will be held on July 18th at 11 a.m. at the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, N.H. with the Rev. Mary Detsch officiating. A celebration of her life will follow at the home of her son, Walter in Enfield.
