Barbara Camp Lashua

Canaan, N.H. — Barbara Camp Lashua, 75, passed away at home on Jan. 23, 2014. Barbara was born in Lebanon, N.H. on March 6, 1938, the only child of Dean H. Camp and Madalyne Hines. Her family moved to Portsmouth, N.H. when she was 2 years old.

She later graduated from Portsmouth High School. Following her graduation she moved back to Canaan, New Hampshire and lived with her aunt and uncle. She married Gerald Lashua of Canaan, on July 11, 1969 and they have been married 44 years.

She worked at the Canaan Elementary School for 26 years as a special education teaching assistant. She enjoyed snowmobiling and belonged to the Mt. Cardigan Snowmobile Club. She also loved camping and NASCAR races. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth. She was predeceased by her parents, two uncles, Roger and Verne Hines, an aunt, Margery Hines, an aunt, Hazel Camp and an uncle Ray Camp and her cousin, Patricia Eastman.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald, their son Kevin Lashua, grandchildren Kaycee and Travis Lashua, an aunt, Velma Hines, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and a brother and sister in law. She will be missed dearly by her family.

Gerald wishes her to be remembered as someone who always put others before herself. Following Barbara’s wishes there will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Condolences may be expressed with the family by visiting
