Jonathan Larson Ferrero

Woodstock, Vt. — There will be no calling hours for Jonathan Larson Ferrero, 22, who died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the scene of a tragic accident on Fletcher Hill. A memorial service will be held at Woodstock Union High School Baseball field on Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. He was born in Randolph, Vt. on Jan. 17, 1991, son of David and Nancy Ferrero of Woodstock. Jon attended school in Woodstock and graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 2010. Jon was a true athlete excelling at many sports; but his true love was baseball. His dream was to play baseball on a major league team someday. On the afternoon of his death he had led the Claremont Cardinals Baseball team to their second championship title in a tournament against the Walpole Wild Blue team. He was with his best friend, Justin Pierce, at the time of his death.

Jon was a very hard worker, avid hunter, and friend to all. He started working for Jon White with Long Hill Masonry while he was a high school student, often working a full shift of masonry and then pitching a game of Legion ball. He began working for Dutton Construction Company in the spring of 2013 and was enjoying learning other trades like roofing. When he was laid off this winter rather than collect unemployment Jon collected scrap metal and would proudly return home from Claremont with $100 for a truckload. He used this money to buy baseball equipment for this summer.

Jon is survived by his parents, David and Nancy Ferrero of Woodstock; his brother, Charlie Ferrero, of Woodstock; and his sister, Kristina Ferrero Meduna of Waltham, Mass.; as well as his fiancée, Morgan Pierce of Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodstock High School Baseball Booster Club c/o Woodstock Union High School.

Following the memorial service the family would enjoy having anyone with a bat; glove and ball end the service with a pickup game of baseball. Jon would have liked that, Play Ball!

Cabot Funeral Home of Woodstock is in charge of the arrangements.
