60th Anniversary: Pauline and Donald R. Wentworth Sr.

Windsor — Pauline and Donald R. Wentworth Sr., of Enfield, Conn., celebrated 60 years of marriage with family and friends at a dinner party hosted by their sons on Nov. 2, 2013, at the Elks Lodge in Windsor.

Donald “Don” Wentworth and Pauline “Polly” Herschel were married at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor on Nov. 7, 1953. Don, the son of the late Chester and Irene Wentworth, of Windsor, graduated from Windsor High School in 1948. Polly, daughter of the late Clarence and Agnes “Nan” Herschel, graduated from Windsor High School in 1953.

The couple moved to Connecticut in 1955 and have resided in Enfield for more than 53 years. They have two sons: Don Jr., of Oxford, Mass., and Doug Wentworth and wife, Launa, of East Longmeadow, Mass. They had an infant son, Scott, who died in 1959. They are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

In addition to the four homes the Wentworths built during their years in Enfield, they also have owned a winter home in Florida and a summer home in New Hampshire.

Don retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Conn., in 1992 after 28 years of service as a tool procurement analyst. Polly retired from Emery Worldwide in Windsor Locks, Conn., in 1992 after 25 years as an administrative secretary.

The couple renewed their wedding vows in a ceremony performed by their son Don Jr. Their son Doug conducted a champagne toast in honor of his parents and their 60-year commitment to each other. Mary Ann Lacki, of Oxford, and Don Jr. created a floral arrangement.
