Bradenton, Fla. — Barbara Bates Perkins, 88, of Bradenton died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Barbara was born on May 9, 1927, to Robert and Pearl Bates in Burlington, Vt. They moved to Lebanon, N.H. in 1934 and she graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945. She graduated from Lasell Jr. College in 1947. Barbara married Sherman Perkins in Lebanon in 1947. They had two sons, Alan and Scott. The family moved to Alexandria, Va. in 1953. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper and later worked part time as a nursery school teacher for 10 years. In 1973 she went to work for the Federal Government in Alexandria, Va. She started in a clerical position and …
