Ruth Heath Barrell

Lakeland, Fla. — Ruth Heath Barrell, 81, beloved wife of John F. Barrell, passed away peacefully at home in Lakeland surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. She was born on Feb. 14, 1932 in Woodsville, N.H. and lived in Bethel, Vt. with her parents, Eva and Pick Scoville. She attended Castleton Teachers College. Together, Ruth and John raised four children and helped raise four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is survived by John, her husband of 58 years; two daughters, Lori Carrier and her husband, Steve of Lakeland and Cynthia Brown and her husband, Keith from Winter Haven, Fla.; two sons, John Barrell from Canaan, N.H. and Christopher Barrell and his wife, Kathleen from Newport, N.H.; four grandchildren, Serena Tucker, Robert Tucker, Julia Rich and Brett Barrell; and her beloved great granddaughter, Alexandra Braley.

There will be no immediate service. Ruth chose to donate her remains to science for medical education. There will be a private memorial at a later date in New Hampshire. The family requests that memorial contributions can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2525 Drain Field Road, Suite 4, Lakeland, FL 33809.
