Letter: Those Big-Government Bullies
To the Editor:
Angus Gorman wrote in his March 7 letter, “Very few Graftonites are aware of the existence of the Free State Project or its potential to be a threat.”
I sorta doubt that most Grafton residents don’t know who and what the Free State Project is. They all know John Babiarz, a well-regarded local fireman who has run for governor several times on the Libertarian Party ticket, and the political wrangling he and his friends have had with those who want to turn Grafton into some sort of big-government town. The only people who think the Free State Project and its members who live in Grafton are any sort of threat are those who want to hike up your tax rates and eliminate the volunteer-run spirit of the present town government. Because that is the only thing that Free Staters are a threat to: big-government, looter personalities and special interests.
I find the sort of scare tactics these big-government bullies are trying to use against free staters to be hilarious. “Free Staters want to take over the local government in order to ... ” what? Leave you alone? Ooooh, scary. Is that something you, dear reader, really feel afraid of? That someone may want government to leave you alone?
