Letter: What the Clarification Omitted

To the Editor:

I want to thank Mary Daly for clarifying the Clay Bennett cartoon published on Aug. 26 in her Aug. 29 letter, “What the Cartoon Omitted.” I originally thought the cartoon was a jab at the GOP definition of success as getting all of the money in one bag. I now realize that all the empty-handed folks are employed by the guy with the money bags. Thanks to Daly for that insight, but I think she missed the opportunity to point out that it must be a lack of personal responsibility that caused all these people to cook their bags and feed them to their children.
