Lebanon Walkathon to Help Homeless Pets

Lebanon — A community walk to benefit Upper Valley Humane Society is set for May 19 in Colburn Park. “Walk on the Wildside” will also feature dog photo booths, demonstrations, music and food.

Walkers and joggers can choose between 1- and 4-mile routes. Check-in opens at 11 a.m., and walkers are encouraged to start by 11:30 a.m. Joggers should begin by 11:15 a.m. Prizes include T-shirts for those who raise $50 or more.

Participants can register as individuals or teams, and well-behaved dogs on non-retractable leashes are welcome. Proceeds will help the Enfield-based humane society shelter and adopt out homeless pets.

Local veterinarians and others will provide children’s activities and information about pet ownership, and police K9 units, dog trainers, and agility groups will offer demonstrations. Many of the humane society’s adoptable dogs will also be on hand.
