Police: Fourth Suspect Arrested in Claremont Armed Robbery

Claremont — The fourth suspect in the armed robbery of an elderly man on Elm Street March 6 has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and Claremont Police.

Benjamin Ecklund, 31, of Claremont, was picked up Wednesday and will be arraigned today in 5th Circuit Court on a felony charge of armed robbery, Police Chief Alex Scott said in a news release. He is being held at the Sullivan County House of Correction.

Three other people, Thomas Meade, 18, of Newport, Jessica Russell, 33, of Claremont and Aaron Kiniry, 26, of Unity, have already been arrested and charged in the case.

Scott said in the release further details beyond Ecklund’s arrest would not be available at this time because the investigation is ongoing.

Though he did not say where Ecklund was caught, Scott did thank the U.S. Marshals Service and its fugitive task force, the Belknap County Sheriff’s office, Greenfield Police, Rockingham County Sheriff’s office and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s office for their assistance.

The 84-year-old victim in the robbery was not seriously hurt.
