Fire Engulfs Bradford Dairy Barn
Bradford, Vt. — Firefighters responded to a fully engulfed barn fire at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, which destroyed the structure but caused no injuries.
“Some structures were starting to fall” when the firefighters arrived on scene, said Bradford Fire Chief Ryan Terrill.
The dairy barn, which belongs to Mickey Appleton, sits across Route 25 from the on ramp to Interstate 91 South.
By 8 p.m. all that remained were smoldering embers, the former milk house and two towering silos. Firefighters continued to battle flames inside the silos.
Woodsville’s tower truck sprayed water onto the embers as water pooled in the surrounding cornfields.
Terrill said he wasn’t sure what caused the fire.
No people or animals were hurt and firefighters were able to protect a nearby residence from damage.
Fire departments from Haverhill Corner, Woodsville and Piermont, as well as those from Newbury, Corinth and Fairlee responded to the call.
