VA Medical Center Celebrates Volunteers

VA Medical Center Celebrates Volunteers

Volunteer Dennis Brown, left, assists veteran Stephen Smith at the welcome desk at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction. During National Volunteer Week, the VA medical center will recognize its 131 volunteers for the time and service they have contributed to the area's veterans, along with the more than 79,000 citizen volunteers who give back to veterans every day at VA medical facilities across the country. "Volunteers help to inspire both staff and patients by making the medical center a community,” Karen Campbell, voluntary service chief, said in a news release. The VA is inviting everyone in the community to explore how they can use their skills and unique assets to thank veterans with service of their own. There are as many ways to volunteer at the White River Junction VA medical center. For instance, drivers are needed to transport patients to their medical appointments, ambassadors are needed to help visitors navigate the facility, and clinics are seeking volunteers to assist with clerical duties. Call 866-687-8387, extension 5392, for more information about volunteer opportunities. VA Medical Center photograph
