Library and Preschool Will Honor the Life of Enfield Girl
Enfield — Efforts are under way to honor the life and memory of Willa Shine Clark, a 4-year-old Enfield girl who died following an accident this spring.
Mascoma Cooperative Preschool, in collaboration with Enfield Public Library, is accepting charitable contributions to create “Willa’s Corner,” a part of the children’s room in the new Enfield Public Library. Willa was a member of the preschool’s “butterfly” class.
“We have already raised more than $11,000, but our goal is to reach $50,000. This would allow us to also name the screened porch after Willa,” Stephanie Gunn, vice president of the preschool’s board of directors, said in a recent news release. “She loved to read and she loved being outside. We feel as though it would have been her favorite place in the library.”
Construction on the new library is expected to begin next year.
Willa’s parents have been “integral members and supporters of the preschool,” the preschool said. Her mother, Cara Clark, is president of the board of directors, and her father, Michael Clark, has also been an active volunteer with the organization. Willa was at a home day care in Enfield on March 24 when her jacket became snagged on a branch, causing her to choke and stop breathing. She died two days later.
Checks made payable to Mascoma Cooperative Preschool can be mailed to PO Box 219, Enfield, NH 03748. Donations may also be made online at www.crowdrise.com/willacorner.
