Letter: Showing God’s Love to Others

To the Editor:

The Northern Lights Pathfinder Club, sponsored by the Claremont Seventh-day Adventist Church on Marcotte Ave., went out into the community around the church collecting non-perishable food items for Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes. On the afternoon of Nov., 2 we knocked on doors leaving collection bags and explaining that we would be back to collect the food the next day between 2 and 4 p.m. After collecting the food, we sorted it in preparation for putting the boxes together on Nov. 21. While some people made up the baskets, others went and bought fresh produce to add to the boxes. We were able to put together 11 boxes, which were delivered over the weekend.

We would like to thank Hannaford and Market Basket for the collection bags they provided. We would also like to thank the community members who generously donated food.

The Pathfinder Club is a youth group similar to Scouts that helps teach young people to be sensitive to the needs of others. Along with community service, Pathfinders learn to know and serve God better. We enjoy putting together food boxes because it is a way to concretely show God’s love to others and it is fun to help those in need.
