Newport, N.H. — R. Keith Walker, 50, of Cheney Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Danville, Ky. on Aug. 8, 1963. He graduated from Newport High School in 1981 and was a truck driver for Novas in Claremont. Keith was a machinist and was employed by K & M of Newport. After the onset of multiple sclerosis he had been a dispatcher for Peterson Concrete Pumping.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, hunting, camping and the outdoors and was a big NASCAR fan. He was content and happy to sit on the back porch and look at the flowers, birds and squirrels. Keith particularly loved time spent with his granddaughter. He was so appreciative of the care and concern shown to him by his caregivers and special friends. He just loved his Charlestown MS Support Group.
Members of his family surviving include his daughter, Cecily Walker; his granddaughter, Hanna Rose of Newport; his son, Joshua Walker of Springfield, N.H.; his parents, Rodney and Colleen (Cowdrey) Walker of Newport; his brother, Mark David and Cindy Walker of Newport; his sister, Julie Rose and Mark James of Collierville, Tenn.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and his former wife, Melissa Walker-Julian of Springfield, N.H.
Friends may call at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at The South Congregational Church of Newport.
