Jerold Ray Spencer
Windsor, Vt. — Jerold Ray Spencer, 85, a longtime resident of Windsor passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 8, 2013, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
He was born April 22, 1927, in Marshfield, Vt. the son of Erwin and Helen (Holt) Spencer. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Windsor. He married Blanche Scribner in Windsor on Oct. 24, 1948. Mr. Spencer was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor for forty two years. He retired in 1985 to enjoy life and spend time with his family.
He was a member of the Rachel S. Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor and an active member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25. Jerold enjoyed going camping every year at Sebago Lake in Maine with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his home.
He was predeceased by his eldest son, Dana R. Spencer on March 15, 2012.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Blanche Spencer of Windsor; two sons, Gary Spencer of Adams, Mass. and Mark Spencer of White River Jct., Vt., one daughter, Jill Spencer-White and her husband, Jeffrey of Windsor; three grandsons, Tyler Freeman, Christopher Spencer and Dylan Spencer, three granddaughters, Riley White, Ashley Spencer and Taylor Nalette; one sister, Colleen Rushia and her husband, Leo of Cornish, N.H.; several nieces and nephews.
At Mr. Spencer’s request a graveside service will be in the spring in the family lot in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
