Letter: Another Problem With Drug-Testing
To the Editor:
Thank you for your Jan. 26 editorial, “Positively Ridiculous.” It described a bill introduced in the New Hampshire Legislature that would require drug testing for those receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, more commonly known as welfare. If it passes, this measure would have another serious result in addition to those you describe: It would punish children and veterans. When I volunteer at the food shelf, both of these groups are present. I don’t think anyone wants to make it harder for either group than it already is.
