David Arthur Bevan

Portage, Wis. — David Arthur Bevan, 82, of Portage, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Jan. 14, 2013. A service will be held in the summer months in Cornish, N.H.

David Bevan was born on April 2, 1930, in Troy, N.Y. to the late Reverend Dr. Frank W. Bevan and Frances W. Bevan and spent his summers in Maine at their cottage where he developed a love

of nature, water and boats. He earned a business degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute near Troy and became a certified accountant. He married Susan Duffie of Ohio in 1951 in Troy, N.Y., then moved to Danville, Vt. where they purchased a small farm with a view of the White Mountains and started a family. Eventually they settled in Cornish on 150 acres where they raised their four children and many animals. Dave Bevan was known for his gentle, kind spirit, sense of humor and his love of buying and fixing up old cars and houses. He was preceded in death by his half-sisters, Janet B. Otto, Elizabeth (Betty) B. White; his first wife, Susan Duffie Bevan; and his son, William Whittier Bevan. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Ann Bevan of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Marie Bevan of North Carolina and Sally Sue Bevan of New Hampshire; and his second wife of seven years, Margie Snyder Crotser Bevan.

We are so very grateful to Cindy Deal for her loving partnership with Sally for many years and for being a wonderful sister-daughter-friend to our whole family. Much gratitude to American Way and Saint Jude Hospice in Madison, Wis. for their care and support of David in his last months and to Crawford Funeral Home. Donations may be given to the New Hampshire Humane Society, 1305 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, N.H. 03246. www.nhhumane.org.
