Peggy Cora O'Donnell

Tunbridge, Vt. — Peggy Cora O'Donnell, 63 died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in South Royalton, Vt.  She was born May 20, 1953 in Randolph, Vt. the daughter of Guy J. and Marion A. (Russell) O'Donnell.  She attended Tunbridge Central School and South Royalton High School where she graduated in 1971.  Like her mother before her, she lived on the Home Place all her life.

She worked in customer service for many years for Shopping International in Wilder, Vt. and later when the company was taken over, for King Arthur Flour and also The Music Stand in Wlder, Vt.  In her later years she was a caregiver to many in the area.

She was a member of the White River Grange #53 of South Royalton, VT and later the Tunbridge Grange #384.

Although Peggy had no children of her own, she was a mother to many.  She loved children of all ages and was the unofficial neighborhood driver education teacher for many of them.  She loved people and often struck up a conversation with strangers that were soon to be a new friend.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, children, dogs and chocolate.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was a huge Elvis Presley fan.  She had just returned from her lifelong dream trip to Elvis' home "Graceland" in Memphis, Tenn. with her nieces.

Among those who will miss her greatly will be her dog Presley, her sister Mary Dorman and her husband Rob of Gaysville, Vt. and their children, Jenny Stuart and her husband and son, John and Robbie of Barrington, N.H., Rebecca Dorman of Gaysville, Vt.,  Peggy's brother Michael O'Donnell and his wife Helen of Tunbridge and their children Jason O'Donnell of Tunbridge, Vt., Janice Covey and her husband Ben and their children, Moriah, Savannah, Tristan and Gideon all of Williamstown, Vt., Amanda O'Donnell of Scarboro, ME and Ian O'Donnell and his wife Jody and their son Merritt all of Tunbridge, her godchildren Jonathan and Shannon Hayes of Post Mills, Vt. , her friend Marilyn George who along with her dog, Gertie,  shared daily phone visits and numerous cousins.  She was predeceased by her parents and her companion, Roger Sargent.

There will be no public calling hours.  A memorial funeral service will be held, Saturday,  June 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the South Tunbridge Methodist Church.  Following a time of fellowship, burial will be in the Branchview Cemetery in South Royalton, Vt. at 3 p.m.
