Hanover Center — The 56th annual Hanover Center Old Timer’s Fair will feature old-fashioned games, live music and plenty of bargains for bibliophiles.

The event, which will be held June 23-24, is a family friendly and “truly affordable Upper Valley tradition,” volunteer Edie Morgan said in an email.

The fair will open on June 23 with 4-H demonstrations at 5 p.m., a mini-horse pull at 6 p.m. and an outdoor family movie, with popcorn, at 8 p.m. On Saturday morning, the festivities will kick off with a parade at 10, followed by a quilt show and craft fair at 10:30, and an oxen pull at 11. It will wrap up with a chicken barbecue and auction at noon. Ongoing activities both days will include a book sale, white elephant sale, children’s games, bouncy house and live music.

Entrance is free. Grilled items, baked goods and other treats will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the two-day fair benefit Hanover Center Congregational Church.

Organizers could use a hand with setup, which takes place several days before the fair, and with taking it down on June 25.

Volunteers are usually needed in the food tent and at the book sale, and kids can help run the games, Morgan said.
