Letter: Going Solar

To the Editor:

We wanted to thank the Valley News for its March 7 article about the launch of Solarize Upper Valley and to update your readers on progress in our towns.

Solarize Upper Valley is a joint effort with Vital Communities to double the number of homes powered by solar electricity in our towns. In each town, we reviewed proposals from solar companies and selected contractors to provide services for our residents: Catamount and Integrity Solar for Thetford-Strafford, RGS Energy for Lyme, and Solar Source for Cornish-Plainfield.

The more folks who contract with their installer in each town by end of June, the lower the price will be for those in that particular community. Thus far, more than 350 residents have contacted our towns to learn more about the Solarize effort, and about 220 site visits have been scheduled by our contractors.

You can learn more about the Solarize Upper Valley project, including our discounted group pricing, dates of upcoming educational events, financing options that make going solar very affordable and contacts to sign up online for a free site visit (www.vitalcommunities.org/Solarize/) or call Vital Communities at 802-291-9100 ext. 109.

We hope you will join your neighbors in going solar today.
