Harold Roland W. Hanchett, 78 of the Miller Pond District, Strafford, VT died on May 25, 2019 at his home after a long period of declining health.
Roland was born January 28, 1941 in Lyme, NH to Ralph and Ethel Hanchett of the Miller Pond District, Strafford, VT. Married his wife Barbara, June 24, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Union Village, VT. He lived in Strafford and graduated from Thetford Academy.
He enjoyed his tractors, growing flowers and vegetables, traveling, fishing and hunting.
Roland is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara J. (Ward) Hanchett, son Michael R. Hanchett and his wife Patty of Cornish, NH, Daughter Rachel A. Claffey and husband Kerry J. Claffey of South Strafford, VT, son Arthur R. Hanchett and his wife Kimberly M. Hanchett of the Miller Pond District, Strafford, VT, son John J. Hanchett and his wife Tammy L. Hanchett of Norwich, VT, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, a brother Eugene C. Hanchett of Latham, NY and a sister Elisabeth (Betty) M. Thresher of Auburn, NE. Predeceased by his parents and sister Wilma (Billy) W. Bickford of White River Junction, VT.
