After retiring from Exeter Junior High School in 1996, she was the school nurse in Thetford, VT and in Waits River, VT. Bev became a licensed massage therapist in 1997 and spent many years practicing as a private massage therapist.

In 1992, Bev was one of 13 founding members of the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition and was an activist for cancer research and prevention all throughout her life. She served as president of the coalition from 1995-1996 and her photograph is one of 51 portraits honored in the “See Us Hear Us” exhibit, a project created to raise awareness of the disease in New Hampshire.
