WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Vermont Workers’ Center is scheduled to hold a “speakout” and exhibit at Junction Arts & Media in White River Junction on Friday at 5 p.m., according to a news release.

The event comes as thousands of Vermonters and Granite Staters are poised to lose coverage under Medicaid because they no longer qualify. Renewals for the government insurance were put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, but have resumed following the end of the public health emergency earlier this year.

The Friday event offers community members the opportunity to share their health care stories. In addition, the Burlington-based Workers’ Center is collaborating with JAM to create a month-long interactive exhibit “Healthcare is a Human Right.” To participate in the exhibit, Upper Valley residents are invited to stop by JAM, 5 South Main Street in White River Junction, during the month of September between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays to record a short video or take a photo explaining why health care is important to them.

These events are part of a series of events the Workers’ Center is putting on in advance of a March for Medicaid scheduled to take place on Sept. 24 in Montpelier.
